Bishop Gift Kudakwashe Machinga, overseeing the United Methodist Church (UMC) in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Botswana Episcopal Area, has urged church members to utilize their unique talents to benefit the church.
Addressing delegates at a recent Bishop Interface program at Hilltop United Methodist Church in Mutare District, Bishop Machinga encouraged members to leverage their skills in various areas, such as preaching, singing, teaching, and entrepreneurship, to support the church’s mission.
“We should make use of our talents for the benefit of our church. More so, each and every person should be given an opportunity to use his or her talent especially in the United Methodist Church. A full live is seen within the church and Christ. If we live within church and its holy spirit we will get there” Bishop Machinga said.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, Bishop Machinga highlighted that by working together, the church can achieve greater heights and fulfill its purpose. He reminded members that the church belongs to them and requires their total support to be effective.
“Let us take time pray at all times. By participating in church activities, we can show our commitment to the church’s mission and vision. I urge all church members to come together in order to build it,” he added.
Bishop Machinga also emphasized the UMC’s commitment to peace and love, noting that the church focuses on preaching God’s word and promoting love, rather than criticizing other denominations. He cautioned against distractions and encouraged members to stay focused on their faith.
Since taking office two months ago, Bishop Machinga has been traveling across districts, engaging with members, and sharing his vision for the church. Known for his strong leadership and advocacy for social justice, he is dedicated to guiding the UMC in its mission to serve and inspire.
The UMC Mutare District is one of the largest and most vibrant districts in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Botswana Episcopal Area. The district is home to numerous churches and communities, all of which are committed to spreading the message of Jesus Christ and serving the needs of their communities.
