The UMYF gave way for their motto, ‘Zvese kuna Kristu’, to be proven dominant as they gave their blood, sweat and tears up on Saturday 26 April at the Sports Gala held at the ZB Sports Club in Vainona.
Sunningdale and Tafara were the soccer tournament finalists, Sunningdale scoped the
1st position with 3 – 0 goals. Mabvuku and Zimre were the finalists for Netball tournament with Mabvuku coming up victorious by 7 – 4 goals.
Not quite spoilt for choice but still satisfied the UMYF members all got together at ZB Bank Sports Club to participate in soccer, netball and tennis, followed by a surprise dance competition!
Not too soon did it begin to get physical and competitive. The Messis and Ronaldos of the UMYF celebrated magical goals and grave loses. Overall and most importantly, this recreational event brought all members of the UMYF of the Harare East District together.
Whilst building stronger bonds, stronger faith and stronger muscles, the UMYF came to the realisation that their families stretch out far beyond the confinements of their homes. All of us together are a family, not by blood, but in Christ.
It was an opportunity and time to interact with each other from the eight circuits that made it to the event namely, Mabvuku, Chisipite, Waterfalls, Ruwa, Domboramwari, Tafara, Sunningdale and Zimre. Everyone walked away with a new WhatsApp contact!
The success of the event was seen as that of the divine intervention. God made the event possible.
The ZB Bank managed and staff was applauded for providing such facilities for use even by the young people.
It was agreed that this will be an ongoing event during school holidays and members encouraged each other to keep exercising more frequently, as it truly was a survival of the fittest.
