In a heartwarming display of community engagement, United Methodist Church Bishop Gift Kudakwashe Machinga pledged to fund scholarships for two underprivileged students, one from Munyarari Primary School and one from Chinyauhwera Secondary School. The announcement was made during a worship service held at Zimunya Central Circuit in Mutare District.

“We will ensure that 2 students each from Munyarari Primary and Secondary who cannot afford fees will have their tuition fully paid,” declared Bishop Machinga to a cheering crowd. The initiative aims to uplift disadvantaged bright students who are dropping out of school due to lack of funding, promoting inclusive development and equitable access to education.

The headmaster of Munyarari Primary School, Dunmore Zikiti, praised the gesture as a lifeline for many students struggling to pay fees. Chinyauhwera Secondary School headmaster William Nyahumbi expressed gratitude for the surprise announcement, stressing that many bright students were dropping out due to lack of fees. He appealed to well-wishers to also assist the schools.

As the church comes together to support one another, Bishop Machinga’s pledge serves as a beacon of hope for underprivileged students in Zimunya Central. The initiative’s impact will undoubtedly be felt for years to come, empowering young minds and fostering a brighter future for the region.
